KLCC Update - Honours Board, Enchiladas and the Sky is the limit!

28 May 2022

Welcome to another busy weekend at KLCC!

We are hosting our Mexican Night at the club tonight and you can still sign up for food here: Mexican Night Sign-up

The food is being provided by Dallings and it costs £10 per person.  You are very welcome to just come and enjoy a drink and the Champions League Final without signing up/paying - but there will probably be some spare food available to buy if you change your mind.  To guarantee access to food, you do need to sign up on the link.

We have 3 Senior League Fixtures today:

  • 1st XI vs Eversholt - Home (Common)
  • 2nd XI vs Totteridge Millhillians 3rd XI (Away)
  • 3rd XI vs Royal Herts (Away)

The players will be hoping to continue their tremendous batting form from last week with Tom Warrell (79), Nick Simpson (86) and Matt Langston (90) all scoring half centuries, the latter finding his way on to the Hertfordshire Play Cricket Honours Board for the week!

There were also 3-wicket hauls for Ben Joyce, Andrew Burnell and Ashley Banner - all making their way on to our Top 10 board for the season so far.

In terms of results, it was only the 2nd team that could claim victory last week.  Powered by Warrell and Langston, they amassed an impressive total of 250-4 in 40 overs. Dunstable were always going to struggle and eventually subsided to 173 all out to complete a 77-run victory.

The match summaries are attached for all the games - and the 1st XI and 3rd XI will be looking to return to winning ways today.

A reminder that you can track all results and stand out performances on ECB Play Cricket and our own website.

On The Common tomorrow, there will be another busy morning of All Star and Junior Training.  A reminder that the kitchen is open throughout training in the morning and, when matches are on in the afternoon, the bar is open for the duration too.  We would encourage everyone to pop down at some point if they can to enjoy the atmosphere and enthusiasm of our youngest members - and to support the players in their matches too.

In other news, I will be communicating with Junior families in the near future to support you in accessing the Play Cricket website.  We hope this will be the next stage in being able to share more updates of the Junior results and performances, alongside the Senior team updates.

The Committee met this week for our latest meeting.  We reviewed the start of the season and our ongoing projects, including trying to retain our ClubMark status that we are proud to hold.  We will be in contact with more details of how you can help us to run the club and build on the fantastic momentum since the start of the season.  We have also agreed to sign up to a 3-month trial to reinstate Sky TV in the clubhouse. We will review this carefully but the opportunity to trial, alongside hefty subsidisation by the ECB gave us the confidence to give it a go in the current climate.  We also started planning for Carnival... more to follow on that soon!

We will also be starting the process of following up on Membership payments as we are now at the end of May.  You can pay by bank transfer or through our website using a card payment on the Paypal portal (we are aware some have issues making this work).  We will provide more details in a separate communication.

So, a busy day ahead - and now this tired-out teacher is on half term, hopefully you will be updated on the latest results before next Saturday - and I hope to provide the first formal updates on the Fantasy League - including the winner of the first monthly prize - as well.

We hope to see you up the club later, whether that is for cricket, drinks, mexican food or Champions League football - or all 4!

Best wishes,

Rich
