Match report Kings Langley 1st XI fell to a 41 run defeat as Harpenden II visited The Common on Saturday.
Following a week of rain, and in a game reduced to 46 overs per side, Kings Langley were happy to field first upon winning the toss. The bowlers put in a strong performance, limiting Harpenden to 152-9 in their 46 overs. The star of the show was Jay Williams who claimed 5-31 from his 10 spell during which time the visitors were reduced from 51-1 to 102-6. Liberty Maher continued his consistent form picking up 2-14 from 8 tight overs. Captain Harry Sambrook had earlier claimed the first wicket to fall en route to figures of 1-27 from 9 overs.
In reply, Kings Langley had no trouble keeping up with the required rate but they struggled to put together a substantial partnership and avoid the regular loss of wickets. Jack Stokes scored 23 opening the batting and Liberty Maher top scored with 24 in the middle order. Unfortunately, extras were the 3rd highest contributor and only Ben Joyce and Christian James could reach double figures. in the end, Kings would be bowled out on the last ball of the 34th over for 111, still 41 runs shy of their target.
