Match report It was another challenging day for Kings Langley 2nd XI as they "hosted" Berkhamsted 2nd XI.
Berkhamsted won the toss and inserted Kings to bat first and, in the end, it proved a wise decision but not before they had made them work hard for their wickets.
After the early loss of Tim Piper, Dave Barton (4) dug in whilst Sam Joyce (36) brought out some big shots as they steadily took the score to 46-1. Unfortunately, Sam would prove to be a comfortable top scorer for the day as the fall of the next wicket prompted an impressive collapse. The team were soon reduced to 50-7 and had more ducks to show for their efforts than a David Attenborough documentary. Duane Smith (10) battled hard amongst the chaos and Sam Wheeler (11*) boosted the total at the end but the day's batting was finished when Kings were all out for 78 in 38 overs.
In reply, Berkhamsted looked set to inflict the club's 2nd 10-wicket defeat of the day but Duane Smith had other ideas as he snaffled 2-8 before the inevitable victory was claimed.
Berkhamsted finished on 83-2 in the 17th over.
