Match Reports - Saturday 1st June

03 Jun 2019

A frustrating weekend in lots of respects but also a promising one with some stand out performances along the way.

You can access full scorecards and reports by logging on to the KLCC Website.

A copy of the match reports are also attached to this email because I'm kind like that.

In summary, the weekend started as it intended to go on as we crashed out of the Watford Observer Fourteen14 Cup against Watford Haidery.

The 1st XI came up just short against Old Albanian on The Common, falling to 186 all out chasing 221 to win. Ben Joyce was the stand-out performer with the bat, running out of overs and partners with 60 not out.  George Langston claims the accolade with the ball taking 3-23 in 5 overs.  Andrew Burnell and Ben Joyce also picked up 2 wickets a piece.

If the 1st XI was frustrating, it was agonising for the 2nd XI.  Chasing their first win since 2017 they fell just 4 runs short finishing on 235-9 in response to Watton-at-Stone's 239-10.  The next phrase is going to get me in trouble but I'm feeling brave so here goes... "the unlikely hero with the ball" was Tom Templeton who claimed the first 5-wicket haul of the season finishing with 8.1 - 1- 22 - 5.  Paul Fidler continued his impressive form with 3-48.  With the bat, Sifan Naeem led the way with a typically swashbuckling 82, Duane Smith ran out of time on 43 not out.

There was a different type of frustration for the 3rd XI.  Having conjured up a full quota of 33 players for the first time this season, it was our turn to be conceded against with Harpenden unable to field their 6th side.  They took advantage of the pitch and tea that was prepared to have a practice match... hopefully we can get them back into action next Saturday.

The next Senior action on The Common is on Tuesday night in another midweek cup match and we resume battle in the Herts Sarcens League on Saturday with the 2nd and 3rd team at home.

Remember to follow our KLCC Facebook Page. Results summaries, updated Top 10 performances, Fantasy League and World Cup Prediction Quiz will appear throughout the week.

Finally, it was great to lots of members join us for the Champions League on Saturday night - we hope everyone who came had a good night.

Have a good week!
