Saturday 29th June - The Report

30 Jun 2019

Well I Never!

I'm not WINding you up...

For most of June the weather had been like WINter...

It has felt like both our form and chances of success have been dWINdling..

Some of the scorecards have been harroWINg reading...

And yet I find myself writing this, reneWINg my optimism for the rest of the season...

And with some news that deserves belloWINg from the rooftops...

WE ONLY WENT AND WON A  BLOOMIN' GAME OF CRICKET!

You can, and you should, read a full report of the 1st team's victory against Knebworth Park that is attached to this email.  It was a fine team performance as they bowled out Knebworth Park for 167.  Jay Williams (4-46) and Andrew Burnell (3-36) led the charge and earned themselves a spot on the Top 10 board.  The batting group all contributed with Paul Ashford top scoring with 33 as they knocked it off with 5 wickets and 5.3 overs in hand.  A much needed and morale-boosting 30 points in the bag!

So, did the 2nd team add some gLOSS to the weekend?  Was their match cLOSE?

Well, to be honest, no.  But it is tough times in the 2nd team at the moment. Playing with 10 players, that included Ian Smith kindly donning some whites instead of the umpires coat, it was tough going once Cheshunt Rosedale II kindly chose to bat first.  They worked their way to a total of 287-6 in hot conditions, Tony Thompson (2-45) and Ashil Raniga (2-64) picked up two wickets each.  It was always an unlikely chase. Duane Smith (25) and Andrew Colquhoun (22) worked hard early on.  Paul Fidler scored an enterprising 38 late on as we fell for 126 all out in the 36th over.

As mentioned, reports are attached and these can also be found alongside scorecards on the KLCC Website

There are also various statistical updates attached if you like that sort of thing.

In other news, the battle in the KLCC Fantasy League continues.  Well done to CJ who wins the June prize of £6.50  as his team compiled 1609 points in the month's 5 games... he also moves up to 2nd place overall behind Jack Stokes who is the current overall leader on 2263 points.  I will share a fuller update soon.

As usual, there will be various updates online during the week and we will be back in touch with more news and updates as the season reaches its halfway point next Saturday.

Have a great week,

Rich
