Senior Results Round Up - Saturday 14th May

17 May 2022

Well, we couldn't quite pull off the complete winning feeling of the first weekend, but a fantastic weekend of availability and some great individual performances still leave plenty to be positive about as we head into week 3 of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League.

All result summaries are attached, alongside the current "Top 10" boards, showing the best individual batting and bowling performances of the season so far.

You can also view full scorecards on our website and ECB Play Cricket.

In terms of results, the highlight of the weekend was a fantastic win for the 1st XI as they surpassed Hertford 2nd XI's total of 184 from the final ball of their 50 overs, with just 1 wicket in hand!

There were starring all round performances from Harry Sambrook (3-39, 39 runs), Andrew Burnell (2-30, 58 runs) and Tom Clark (1-21, 15*).  It was Tom Clark who held his nerve under pressure at the end to strike the final ball of the match for 4 to finish unbeaten on 15 from just 8 balls!

The 2nd and 3rd XIs both fell to defeats at the weekend but there were some fighting efforts from the players.  Tom Warrell (30) and Iain Milton (2-28, 20*) worked hard to try and keep the 2s in their game whilst Nick Lincoln, Paul Fidler and Vikas Kumar all claimed 2 wickets apiece for the 3rd team.

The other highlight of the weekend was simply the fact that we were able to arrange a 4th XI friendly due to the high number of people available to play.  Again, it may have ended in defeat but Jack Gillett picked up 2 wickets and was 2nd top scorer, only to be outdone by star of the show Danny Knights, who picked up 3 wickets and scored 49 runs.

Availability is looking strong again for the coming weekend and efforts are being made to secure a 4th XI friendly.  We are still a couple of people away from filling the teams, so as with last week, if you've been fancying a go or plotting a comeback tour, do let us know!

A reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday) we host Abbots Langley in the Heath Park Cup.  We will be raising money for the Abbots Langley Tough Ten Charity... please do come along and enjoy the cricket with a drink and some food if you are free.

I will be back in touch at the end of the week with news of the weekend's fixtures and activity - and I hoping to bring a bit of a Junior update too!

We look forward to seeing you up on The Common soon.

Best wishes,

Rich
