Kings Langley Cricket Club News story

KLCC - What's on this weekend? (21st May)

21 May 2022

It is another busy weekend at the club and we are delighted once again to have four senior teams in action.

On Saturday, you can see the 2nd XI on the Common against Dunstable 3rd XI as they look to bounce back from their defeat last Saturday.  They welcome a few familiar faces from 1st teams of the recent past back into action, so there will be high hopes of getting back to winning ways.

The 1st XI look to continue their winning start to the season as they travel to face Potters Bar 2nd XI.

For the remainder of the players it is friendly action this week, following the midweek concession of the 3rd team's league opposition.

This means that we are putting out two mixed teams, that we are calling the 3's and the 3A's!

The 3's are playing at The Steiner against Actonians, with Dave Barton continuing his unexpected return to captaincy.

Jamie Calvin is leading the 3As who travel to Widmer End St Margarets for their friendly fixture.

On Sunday, it will be a morning of All Stars and Junior practice as The Common is filled with huge numbers of enthusiastic youngsters.  A huge thank you to all the coaches and volunteers who enable this to happen week-in-week-out.

In the afternoon, both Under 9 teams are in action, with the 9As travelling to Berkhamsted and the 9Bs hosting Hemel Hempstead on The Common at 1pm.

This match will be followed by the Under 12s who are playing Langleybury from 3pm.

Last Wednesday proved to be a fantastic occasion at the club as a midweek cup game doubled up as a fundraising event for the Abbots Langley Tough Ten.

Abbots Langley came out on top as our run chase became increasingly hampered by the deteriorating light. However, there was a big crowd enjoying the occasion and who seemed to enjoy the beer promotions and the chilli provided by Dallings - with donations from the sale of both going to the charity.  Kings will hope to win back the "Platinum Jubilee Cup" at the return fixture at Abbots Langley later this summer.

Next week, we are hosting a Mexican Night at the club on Saturday night (28th May), with Dallings again on hand to provide the catering.   We will be in touch in the next couple of days with details of how you can sign up and pay for the event - as well as all the important logistical you need, such as "What time does it start?" and "What is the food?".

I will be back with all the news of wins (hopefully), losses (hopefully not) and all the star performances (guaranteed) from this weekend's action.

We hope to see you up at The Common at some point over the weekend.

Best wishes,

Rich
