1st XI lose in Gazette Cup

23 May 2018

On a glorious sunny evening, the 1st XI started their defence of the Gazette trophy but unfortunately fell at the 1st hurdle losing on the last ball to Langleybury.

We batted first and posted a slightly below-par 122-8 from our 20 overs. Snuggles and George Langston led the way with 26 and 29no respectively.

In the field some tight bowling from all bowlers meant Langleybury needed 6 from the final over. A edge through the slips for 4 meant the game was pretty much wrapped up. However 2 wickets in 3 balls resulted in Bury' needing 1 off the last two balls. A dot from the penultimate delivery meant only a single was required from the last ball. A scampered single was completed to see Langleybury home by 4 wickets.

Our hopes now rest on retaining the Watford Observer Cup.
