We are looking forward to another busy weekend on The Common and we are all crossing our fingers that the rain disappears, the sun comes out and we are able to enjoy some cricket.
The Juniors will be back in action on the morning having had to sacrifice last week's training to the weather. We will put announcements out on Facebook if the weather has other ideas.
The highlight of this weekend's action is a special event being held in the clubhouse over Saturday lunchtime. We are hosting a lunch to thank Gillian Holroyd and pay tribute to her many and great contributions to our club over the years. Gillian stood down as President at the end of last year and has been a leading supporter of the club for many years. It is always a timely and inspiring reminder that a community sports club such as KLCC only survives and thrives over time because of the dedication, determination and enthusiasm of all those who give their time, money and expertise so willingly and generously. It is remarkable that Kings Langley is approaching it's 190th anniversary and if you feel you have something to offer in terms of skills or expertise, then please do get in touch.
In terms of Senior fixtures, the 1st XI host Harpenden II in search of a 2nd league win of the season. The 2nd XI travel to Allenburys & County Hall II in Ware and the 3rd team host Northwood IV (if the rain stops and the opposition actually shows up this week!) This is now the 4th week out 6 where we have been able to put out a full compliment of teams... thank you to all the players who have made themselves available - and special credit should go to Liberty Maher and Sifan Naeem who will be the only two to have played all 6. And a big thank you to the Dave Barton, Tom Templeton and Harry Sambrook who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to sort out teams.
The bar will be open on Saturday afternoon and evening, with Happy Overs from 5pm.
The Facebook Preview is already up online but I thought I would attach it in case you need cheering up under cloudy skies.
I have also attached this week's "Thursday Trivia" question... Ben Joyce was first to the correct answer on Facebook... can you get both parts of the problem?
Good luck to all the players this weekend. I will be back with the usual round up of the top performances and frustrating last over defeats on Sunday!
Best wishes,
Rich
