Sorry for the delay in sending an update through from the weekend. I was so tired from fielding in the 1s on Saturday that I've only just found the energy to type... read on to find out why!
In the meantime, news of an event this Saturday. The Junior Section are organising and running a Race Night as part of efforts to raise money for the Net Refurbishment Fund. All members are welcome to this family-friendly event - all the details are attached in the flier. If you would like to sponsor a race or a horse, please follow the instructions in the flier, email Darren Spacey or reply to this email and I will forward it on. It promises to be a fun evening and thank you in advance to all the people involved in organising.
So, back to Saturday... the good news first. We had three teams out, we had new members, we scored over 600 runs and the first club century of the season was scored (and I'm not talking about all the runs Harry Sambrook conceded!)
The bad news... we lost all three games... but there are positives to take forward into the second half of the season.
Full match reports are attached and the scorecards are also updated on the KLCC Website.
In the 1st team, Paul Ashford (71) and Jay Williams (50) led the way with half centuries as they came close to pulling off an unlikely case of 333 for victory.
In the 3rd team, Dave Barton (30) and Warwick Smith (23) were the top scorers in a stubborn effort batting first away.
But the star of the show was Sifan Naeem, who scored 115 for the 2nd team on The Common as they posted a competitive 249. Unfortunately, it would be chased down but credit to Sif who finds his way on to the Honours Board, is the only person to have played all 9 games, is the club's leading run scorer and I suspect has now hit the most boundaries too.
Teams are currently being selected for Saturday and we are hopeful of three teams. I believe there may still be a couple of spaces so if you do fancy a game, let us know. Also, if you would be able to help out by scoring for the first team this Saturday, your assistance would be much appreciated. Do let us know!
Have a good few days - and I will be in touch with a reminder of details for the Race Night and the fixtures that lie ahead before the weekend comes.
Many thansk
Rich
