Match report KLCC 1st XI got their season off to a losing start as they claimed 9 league points in a 115 run defeat at Ickleford.
Having won the toss, stand-in skipper Ben Joyce opted to bowl first and made an early breakthrough with the new ball. Luke Jones picked up a wicket in his first over to leave the home side on 29-2 in the 13th over. Unfortunately for the visitors, the third wicket pair would add an 84 run partnership and be the main contributors of the innings. Krishnamurphy would eventually fall for 109 in the final over of the innings. Wickets fell regularly in the final 20 overs to keep the score in check, but the hosts set a total of 209-9 from their 50 overs. Ben Joyce, Andrew Burnell and Ricky Mohammed all picked up two wickets with Luke Jones, Ashil Raniga and Jay Williams sharing the other 3.

In reply, Kings never really got going. Having been reduced to 3-2 in the 4th over, Jay Williams and Liberty Maher combined for the third wicket. This was also the highest partnership in the visitors' innings but only resulted in 34 runs. Liberty Maher would finish as top scorer with 24 and the innings ended on 94 all out in the 35th over, with 5 batsmen registering their first duck of the season. For Ickleford it was two Marsdens who shared the wickets, one of them finishing with figures of 10-2-19-4.
