Match report It was another tough day at the office for Kings Langley 2nd XI as they lost to Boxmoor by 4 wickets on Saturday.
In wet conditions, Boxmoor won a crucial toss and inserted the hosts to bat. Tim Piper (19) and Min Patel combined well to defy the bowlers in the first 9 overs as they built a partnership of 20. However, when Patel departed, it triggered 4 overs of mayhem as Kings Langley subsided to 28-6 in the 13th over. That became 33-7 in the 19th over but Ashil Raniga was primed and ready at number 8 to do what he could to save the day. He would finish on 23 as the score was slightly salvaged as they finished on 76 all out in 25.2 overs. The opening bowlers for Boxmoor both completed their 10-over stints; McCluskey claiming 4-33 and Hall picking up 3-14.
In reply, Boxmoor were never really in much danger as they chased their target, although they did lose wickets regularly throughout their innings. Ashil Raniga also starred with the ball for Kings Langley as he claimed 3-29 in his 10 overs. Toby Harper claimed the other wicket to fall as Boxmoor reached 79-4 and 30 points on the last ball of the 21st over.
