Match report The 2nd XI put in a strong batting performance on The Common on Saturday, but couldn't quite hold on with the ball as they fell to a 5 wicket defeat against Radlett IV.
Having won the toss and chosen to bat first, Sifan Naeem was the star of the show as he scored the club's first century of the season as he steered his side to an impressive total of 249.
Sifan scored 12 fours and 1 six in his innings and having opened the batting, he was last man out for 115 off the last ball of the 45th over. He received support along the way from Jacob Hutchings (36) and Nauman Hijaz (25).
In reply, Radlett were always up with the required run rate for their challenging chase but were also losing wickets regularly and were seemingly in trouble at 114-5 off 18 overs. Ashil Raniga (1-58), Tom Templeton (2-37) and Duane Smith (2-31) were the wicket takers; the latter being particularly miserly (as usual) in a full 10-over spell. However, similar to 1st team, they would be undone by a middle order partnership and Radlett's 6th wicket pair combined over 25 overs to take their side to their target with 5 overs in hand, both finishing with unbeaten half centuries.
A determined effort from the 2nd XI earns them 15 league points in defeat and, again, plenty of positives to take forward to next week.
