Match report Kings Langley 2nd XI fell to a heavy defeat as they hosted Cheshunt Rosedale 2nd XI in their final home game of the season.
The visitors won the toss and elected to bat and were soon scoring at a healthy rate, albeit for the early loss of an opener, claimed by Ashil Raniga. Young Cameron Appleyard, in his 1st 2nd team game, helped to bring things under control in the middle overs and was unlucky not to claim more than 1 wicket, finishing with 1-52. It was the return of Nauman Hijaz for a 2nd spell after drinks that gave Kings some hope in the game as he claimed 4 wickets in his 5 overs, finishing with 4-42 from his 10 overs and reducing Cheshunt to 185-6. However, some impressive hitting from their number 8, who scored a quickfire 62, meant that the 7th wicket added 95 runs. When Ashil Raniga returned to the attack and claimed three wickets in his 2nd over to finish off the innings, they had compiled a total of 281 all out in 47.2 overs. Raniga finished with 4-32.
In reply, Min Patel got the scoring off to a flying start but fell as rain interrupted proceedings and reduced the innings to 45 overs. Once they returned to the field Sifan Naeem top scored with 21 and Ashil Raniga completed a good all round display with 17 but the regular loss of wickets meant that the hosts were dismissed for 94, confirming a defeat by 187 runs.
