Match report Kings Langley 3rd XI put up a valiant fight against Rickmansworth IV in Regional Division B West, but succumbed to 78 run defeat at the Steiner School.
Rickmansworth batted first and would compile an impressive 224-5 from their 40 overs. Skipper Dave Barton used bowlers throughout the innings, with Hadi Rizvi and Ellis Lee-Knights bowling their full allotment of 8 overs. Debutants Kevin McDermott and David Peters had their first bowl for the club but couldn't claim their first wicket. In the end it would be flight and guile of Tony Thompson (2-47) and Russ Knights (1-34) who would pick up the wickets. Dave Barton and Doug Hargrove also contributed with a run out each.

In reply, a number of batsmen got starts but it would Dave Barton and Doug Hargrove who would finish joint top scorers with 24 each. Ellis Lee-Knights compiled 20 late runs and I'm sure he didn't notice or point out at any stage that he outscored his dad; Russ Knights finishing on 18. Thanks to an unbroken stand between Hadi Rizvi and Tony Thompson at the end, it means the 3rd XI can claim the double accolade of highest team score of the weekend, and the only team not to be bowled out. They finished on 146-8 in their 40 overs, securing 10 league points in the process.
