Kings Langley Cricket Club Under 10 v Radlett U10s on Thu 02 May 2019 at 18:00
Kings Langley Cricket Club Lost by 8 runs

Match report Kings Langley Under 10s started their season by hosting Radlett on a cold night in Kings Langley.

Kings Langley fielded first with Thomas and Harry opening the bowling. It was Harry who scooped a wicket bowling their opener first ball. They bowled well against two of Radlett's better batters.
32 runs scored for 1 wicket = Net 27 runs. Total 27.

Oliver and Jamie were the next bowling pair and thanks to some quick, straight bowling from Oliver and a great variety of types of delivery from Jamie, they produced a lean spell. This also featured two run outs!
12 runs scored for 2 wickets = Net 2 runs. Total 29.

Ben and Captain Lui were up next and despite a few wides early on, soon settled and did a good job in restricting the runs.
20 runs scored for 0 wickets = Net 20 runs. Total 49.

The final overs were taken by Michael and with Jack keeping wicket, Oliver and Harry bowled another over apiece. Once he settled Michael bagged himself a wicket and the team contributed another run out.
29 runs scored for 2 wickets = Net 19 runs. Total 68.

In reply and following a quick turn-a-round as the weather closed in and got colder, Kings Langley set about chasing the required 69 runs to win.

Jack and Lui, who impressed with their beefy hitting last year, opened up against a challenging pair of bowlers who play for South Area boys. They made a steady start in terms of runs, but the loss of 2 wickets slightly took the gloss of a fine effort.
15 runs scored for 2 wickets = Net 5 runs. Total 5.

Brothers Harry and Ben were the next pair and they batted well to get the case on track with Harry striking a 4 off a ball that was so wide he did well to reach it!
20 runs scored 0 wickets = Net 20 runs . Total 25.

The third pair were the young whippets, Thomas and Jamie . They batted ok and warmed themselves up with some quick singles. Thomas had some misfortune when he got out trying to reach a wide one that hit the back of his bat.
31 runs scored for 1 wicket = Net 26 runs. Total 51.

Oliver and Michael were the final pair in to bat, requiring 17 runs from the last 4 overs. Unfortunately, the bowlers straightened up and the wide count dropped making it a challenge too far. There were perhaps a couple of opportunities for quick singles and it's something the whole team are going to work on in training this week.
14 runs scored for 1 wicket = Net 9 runs. Total 60.

A great effort from the boys in their first outing of the year as they narrowly fell to an 8 run defeat. There were lots of positive contributions from all players and Darren Spacey and Ben Joyce have got a plan of how to tackle some areas for improvement in training too.

Good luck with the next game away at Chorleywood on Thursday 9th May.
