It was a weekend for young talent to shine at KLCC and I am able to bring news of a victory this week!
The 3rd team concluded their league season on Saturday with a tense 7-run victory as Ellis Lee-Knights bowled them to victory with a maiden senior 5-wicket haul. Sam Wheeler also produced an excellent all round performance, scoring 30 and picking up 2 crucial wickets. The 30 points brought the added bonus of sneaking above Langleybury and off the bottom of the table for the first time all season!
The 2nd team didn't fair so well as they slumped to a 7-wicket defeat that confirmed they will finish bottom of the league, regardless of their 3 remaining games. However, it was a dogged and determined effort with the bat as the team batted the full allocation and Joe Forster took his chance to shine as he completed an unbeaten half century in the final over.
The 1st team also fell to defeat as they visited Harpenden but a commendable effort with the bat saw them rack up over 200 in their innings. Captain, Harry Sambrook, was the star of the show, falling agonisingly short of a century as he was dismissed for 97. The hosts did chase the target down with relative ease and for the loss of just 3 wickets, meaning that Kings find themselves back in the relegation zone but with all to play for in their 3 games.
Scorecards and match reports for the 2nd and 3rd XI are on the KLCC website and reports, an updated Honours Board and match summaries for the 2nd and 3rd XI are attached to this email. I am still trying to track down full details of the 1st XI game so a full stats update and Fantasy League update will have to wait until next week... we look forward to seeing who will be in the running for the August monthly prize and which teams are still in the reckoning for overall season glory.
We are still looking for players for this Saturday so do please make yourself available if you want a game.
I will be in touch later in the week with details of the weekend ahead and if you're lucky I will share how I get on with the challenge that has been set to do the Facebook Preview on the theme of "Rivers of the World"... I must be in-SEINE to even try ;)
Have a good week!
