The 4ths come so close against Potten End

26 Jun 2025

The 4th XI pushed Potten End all the way – but were just edged out by their opponents with just 5 balls and 3 wickets to spare.

Batting first, Kings posted a competitive total of 203-6 in 40 overs.  Gavin Davis led from the front with a score of 44 from 40 balls at the top of the innings. It was then Ravi Vusika who made the most significant contribution as he crashed a fantastic score of 80 off just 59 balls featuring 11 fours and 3 sixes.

In the chase, Kings bowled and fielded well as they put pressure on their opponents throughout.  A key role of the 4th XI is for Junior development – and it is important we celebrate the performance of each of those juniors in this effort.  Evie D was excellent with the new ball and picked up 2-26 as Potten End were reduced to 68-4. Felix M and Ben C both bowled good spells – Felix bowling a full 8 overs and picked up 1-54, Ben claiming 1-23 off 6.  Henry M was excellent in the field throughout.

From 68-4, they fought back to 133-5 and then they just kept managing to build some mini partnerships to get themselves over the line in a tense finish.  Ashley Chandler and Ravi Vusika were the others to pick up a wicket.
